The Informal COPRO is a recurring meeting of the Chiefs of Protocol of EU Member States.
The Informal COPRO is a meeting between the heads of diplomatic protocol of the 27 EU members, the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European External Action Service. The heads of diplomatic protocol divisions are titled Chief of Protocol (COP).
During the informal meeting, participants discuss topical issues, share best practice and work towards alignment of rules where appropriate. The shared information can assist in the planning of state visits, ceremonies and large summits. It additionally helps to create a standardised protocol approach across the EU.
