Accreditation

Dublin
The Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026 provides an accreditation platform for media representatives wishing to attend and report from Presidency events taking place in Ireland between July and December 2026.

Accreditation is available through the official accreditation platform of the Irish Presidency

Please follow the instructions provided in this media accreditation guide.

The accreditation platform will remain active for the duration of the Irish Presidency. The process will involve an initial application to accredit for the Irish Presidency, followed by a separate registration process for each individual event you wish to attend.

Media representatives are advised to apply for accreditation well in advance of the events they intend to cover as processing may take approximately 21 calendar days from the date the application is submitted.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Media representatives wishing to cover Irish Presidency events in Ireland must complete all the steps in the accreditation process: general accreditation for the Irish Presidency 2026 and separate registration for each Presidency event. Accreditation for all these events must be completed on the official accreditation platform of the Ireland Presidency 2026

Accreditation to cover Irish Presidency events and meetings held in Brussels, Strasbourg and Luxembourg will require a separate application on the accreditation platform of the Council of the EU. This accreditation process is managed entirely, and separately, by the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union.

  • Once the application is processed, you will receive a notification via the accreditation platform and by e-mail, to the address provided at registration. If your application is accepted, you will be invited to register for Presidency events taking place in Ireland between July and December 2026. You will have the option to register for any number of events held in Ireland.

  • Early application for general accreditation for Ireland 2026 Presidency events is strongly recommended as processing may take approximately 21 calendar days. Late accreditation requests will not be accepted.

If your application for general accreditation is granted, you will be able to register for single events or multiple events at once via the accreditation platform.

You will then receive confirmation of registration for each event you have requested to attend. For planning purposes, we advise that you register your interest for all relevant events you intend to cover ahead of time.

  • Submitting an application to cover the events of the Ireland 2026 Presidency does not guarantee accreditation. Due to complex verification processes, it is best to ensure that all necessary valid documents required are submitted with the application at first instance.

The processing of your accreditation request may take approximately 21 calendar days from the date you submitted your application. It is not possible to provide real-time updates on accreditation applications during the processing time. Once your application has been processed, you will receive a notification informing you of the outcome via the accreditation platform and by e-mail.

Accreditation is complete only when you receive an email confirming that it has been granted. Your accreditation status will also feature on the accreditation platform as “granted”.
