The Schumpeter ‘Innovation in Enterprise’ Lecture will take place as part of the SME Assembly and Clusters event in Dublin in November 2026.

The Schumpeter Lecture is a key and much-anticipated event of the SME Assembly and Clusters meeting that takes place every year. The lecture is delivered by a leading authority, usually an academic, on business, entrepreneurship, innovation in Europe. The lecture is inspired by the legacy of economist Joseph Schumpeter whose work championed entrepreneurship and innovation as antidotes to ‘creative destruction’ as economic forces change and renew themselves. The lecture forms part of the SME Week which takes place in the Member State holding the EU Presidency.

The Lecture is attended by the SME Envoy Network, business experts and academics who are invited as participants in the SME and Clusters Assembly.

The annual lecture is an opportunity for delegates from many parts of Europe to hear some most thoughtful and insightful contemporary voices in entrepreneurship and innovation. The lecture invites participants to reflect on the forces driving innovation, disruption, and renewal in Europe’s economy.
