In hosting the informal meeting of competitiveness ministers in Dublin, the Irish EU Presidency aims to facilitate dialogue on advancing a competitive, sustainable and consumer-focused Europe. Discussions will focus on critical issues, including implementation of the “One Europe, One Market” agenda to accelerate EU-wide improvements and strengthen the Single Market, particularly through the removal of barriers affecting SMEs engaged in cross-border transactions and digital services.

The Competitiveness (COMPET) Council (Internal Market and Industry) is one of the ten current formations of the Council of the European Union and is composed of Ministers responsible for the economy, internal market and industry. It meets regularly to focus on the single market and policies to boost competitiveness and growth including removing barriers to cross border movement, boosting access to finance, cutting red tape, fostering innovation, and protecting IP for businesses, as well as protecting and empowering consumers in the EU.
