A meeting of Energy Directors-General will take place in Limerick, Ireland on 3 -4 September 2026.
The meeting will further negotiations on legislative and non-legislative priorities in the energy area. Senior officials of ministries across the European Union and their counterparts in the European Commission will attend. This format allows for detailed technical discussions and the exploration of common positions ahead of Council meetings to facilitate political agreement.
The meeting will enable strategic coordination on shared challenges such as accelerating the clean energy transition, strengthening energy security in the face of geopolitical uncertainty, and advancing key legislative files. With electrification as an overarching theme of the meeting, the meeting will align closely with the overall themes of the Irish Presidency – competitiveness, values and security.
