Community education plays a significant role in the Further Education and Training sector and is underpinned by the Community Education Framework. The framework is led by SOLAS with the actions implemented by the Community Education Framework National Implementation Steering Group.

This annual event forms part of the Community Education Framework.

In addressing regional gaps, each Education and Training Board (ETB) and its community education providers come together each year to identify those gaps and consider how best to address them. This forum is intended to ensure a coordinated and targeted approach to funding, provision and associated outcomes.

This event will bring key stakeholders together to discuss developing a partnership model to coordinate a targeted approach for funding, provision and future development of Community Education

The seminar will focus on:

  • An update on progress made on actions outlined in the Community Education Framework to date.

  • Innovative models of collaboration between community education providers and community partners across Ireland, demonstrating the impact and value of partnership.

  • How community education addresses social issues and empowers learners to become active citizens.

  • Launch of the Wider Benefits of Learning Tool.

  • Engaging in roundtable discussions to approaches for funding, provision and future development of community education.

  • An ambition to showcase a European community education partner from Lithuania, Sligo’s partner throught teh EU Presidency County Pairings initiative.

This event provides an important opportunity to highlight the unique value of community education, the importance of collaboration with community partners and the key challenges facing the sector. It is an opportunity to bring key stakeholders together to explore a more coordinated approach to funding, provision and the future development of community education.
