This event will bring together delegates from EU Member States to collectively discuss Civil Protection issues identified in the EU Preparedness Strategy.

The Irish Presidency Civil Protection Workshop will bring national delegates together from PROCIV (The EU Council Working Party for Civil Protection), PROCIV (CER) - Critical Entities Resilience and the Ad Hoc Working Parties on Resilience. The Workshop will focus on the increasing impacts of severe weather events on society, specifically the cascading impacts on critical infrastructure such as utilities and the communication networks, with the need for whole of society and whole of government approach to enhancing resilience; and the important role of new technology such as AI and science in preparing for, preventing or responding to these cascading risks through all phases of the Disaster Risk Management Cycle.

The goal of the workshop is to bring both academics and experts from different disciplines together under the Civil Protection umbrella to share their experience and valuable insights on the steps and initiatives regarding resilience building, and how, collectively, we can work together for better outcomes, to capture best practices from both national and international actors through sharing their knowledge and experiences. The Irish Presidency Workshop builds on the topics discussed at the previous Civil Protection Workshops from other Presidencies, and aims to facilitate the exchange of expert knowledge and experience on civil protection related issues.
