The Heads of Medicines Agencies (HMA) is the network of the heads of national medicines regulatory agencies. The HMA works closely with the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the European Commission in the operation of the European medicines regulatory network.
The HMA meet twice during each presidency to discuss and progress the strategic priorities and initiatives of the network, bringing together senior leadership of the European medicines regulatory network. Attendees include heads of national medicines agencies and their senior representatives. The meeting is also attended by representatives from the EMA and European Commission.
The HMA meeting provides senior leaders from across the European medicines regulatory network the opportunity to shape and agree the strategic direction and priorities of the network. This facilitates unified efforts across Europe to implement and carry out coordinated initiatives to protect public and animal health.
This is the second meeting of the Heads of Medicines Agencies during the Irish Presidency, which will be held virtually following the in-person meeting that will be held in Dublin in October 2026.
