The European Group of Football Policing and NFIP Network Experts (also known as the Think Tank) acts on behalf of the 38 members of the pan-European network of National Football Information Points (NFIPs).
The aim of the group is to foster cooperation and the sharing of best practices amongst all NFIP and football policing practitioners across Europe; this is important as the calendar of European football matches with an international dimension is extensive and ongoing and impacts on every European country with millions of football supporters annually traversing Europe and beyond.
Public order related incidents occur in a significant number of these matches, although the severity of most incidents is significantly reduced by the efficacy of the NFIP network and associated international police cooperation arrangements. This cooperation is of the utmost importance in terms of minimising the safety and security risks to millions of people who attend matches or reside in the vicinity of venues hosting the events.
