The Working Party on Competitiveness and Growth, High-Level (COMPGRO HLG) works to prepare discussions at the Competitiveness Council (COMPET).
For the duration of the July 2026 to December 2027 Presidency Trio, Ireland holds the chair of COMPGRO HLG, with Lithuania and Greece as co-chairs.
The HLG is a forum for senior officials from EU Member States to monitor the state of Single Market integration, and support COMPET in monitoring and mainstreaming competitiveness across the EU.
Officials discuss progress, challenges related to the Single Market, regulatory simplification and better regulation, industrial policy, and many other enablers of EU competitiveness.
The HLG also considers relevant EU policy priorities, provides guidance on where new intervention may be required, e.g. by the European Commission, and promotes exchange of information and best practices between Member States.
